Does Douyin work on iPhone Duo?
Not announced yet. ByteDance hasn't said when Douyin will get an iPhone Duo layout. It still opens on the Duo, but won't fill the inner display until it's updated.
- Not announcedChina App Store release notes and indexed developer channels checked. No Duo-specific developer announcement found; this is not an on-device test.
Until it's updated
What an app does on iPhone Duo before its developer adapts it. Which of the open cases applies to Douyin depends on the tools its current version was built with, and we haven't seen it on the device.
Closed
On the outer display it looks and works as it does on any iPhone.
Open, built with older tools
An app last built with Xcode 26 sits in an iPhone-shaped window on the inner display, with black borders around it.
Open, built for iOS 27
An app built with the iOS 27 SDK resizes to use more of the inner display, with some space left over.
Open, built for iOS 27.1
Only an app built with the iOS 27.1 SDK reaches the edges of the inner display and moves its bar buttons to the side. Apple calls that “optimized for iPhone Duo”.
About Douyin
As of October 8, 2026 (Pacific Time), the China App Store lists Douyin version 40.7.0, released October 8, 2026 (UTC). Its release notes do not mention iPhone Duo. Our search of indexed pages on the developer’s official site found no Duo-specific developer announcement. This is an announcement search, not an on-device test; sign-in requirements and inaccessible pages limit what we can check.
Douyin will still open on iPhone Duo. On the outer display it functions like any iPhone app. On the inner display it runs letterboxed until rebuilt for the foldable screen. More in how apps that aren’t updated run on iPhone Duo.
