An Apple Music player whose styles keep the art and controls on either side of the fold
Does Marquee for Apple Music work on iPhone Duo?
Yes, since version 1.2.4 on October 6, 2026, and seen in simulator screenshots: bent like a laptop or held like a book, the art and the controls sit on either side of the fold.
- Simulator verifiedJames Frye of Tasty Cocoa Software LLC, the developer, in a submission to FoldHunt on October 22, 2026, and in a post on X on October 21 saying Marquee is "iPhone Duo ready on day 1". The Marquee iPhone Duo page and press kit say Duo support came in version 1.2.4 (October 6, 2026), and the press kit has unframed iPhone Duo screenshots at the sizes of the simulator's open display (2853 × 2007) and cover (1398 × 2034). The release notes for the current version, 1.2.6 (released October 14, 2026), are about the Vinyl player and don't mention the Duo.
Adapted for the fold
- Book · Partly folded
The art and the controls on either side of the fold
Bent like a laptop, the album art or deck sits on the top half and the song, progress, playback controls and volume on the bottom, in the Classic, Vinyl, CD, Cassette and Equalizer styles. Held like a book, the art fills the left page and the controls the right, in every style but Full-Screen.
- Open · Inner display
Art beside the controls, albums in two columns
Open flat, the art sits beside the controls, as on iPad, and the Full-Screen style fills the whole display with the album art. Album and playlist pages split at the fold, with the artwork and play buttons on one side and the track list on the other.
- Closed · Outer display
The player on the cover
Closed, the player fits the cover, with its close and share buttons in the bar at the side where the Duo puts app toolbars, and the tab bar runs down the side too.
About Marquee for Apple Music
Marquee is a player for your Apple Music library. It has eight Now Playing styles (Marquee, with your music up in lights on a theater sign, plus Retro, Classic, Full-Screen, Vinyl, Cassette, CD and Equalizer) and matching animated widgets. It shows your listening stats and a weekly recap you can share as a card, tracks upcoming releases from artists in your library with release-day alerts, scrobbles to Last.fm, and scans the barcodes of your CDs and records to find them in Apple Music. The player, library, radio, scrobbling and scanner are free; Marquee Pro adds the stats, release alerts, the other player styles and premium widgets, as a subscription or a one-time unlock. It needs an Apple Music subscription.
Version 1.2.4, out on October 6, 2026, brought the iPhone Duo layouts. The player styles work around the fold: bent like a laptop, the art sits above it and the controls below; held like a book, the art fills one page and the controls the other; open flat, the art sits beside the controls. Album and playlist pages split into two columns, and on the cover the player’s buttons and the tab bar move to the bar at the side. The Duo layouts are free, along with the Classic player; the other styles need Marquee Pro.

Simulator verified · iphone-duo
Checked the press kit's unframed iPhone Duo screenshots, each with the Duo status ring: two at 2853 × 2007, the simulator's open display, with the Equalizer style's art beside the song and controls, and the Full-Screen style filling the display with the art; and one at 1398 × 2034, the cover, with the Marquee style's bulbs around the art and the close and share buttons in the side bar. The X post shows the same screens in device frames.
Poses shown: Open, Closed. These are observations of the evidence, not a test of every interaction.
App version: Not recorded in this evidence. Environment: iPhone Duo simulator.
Still captures can't show the fold, so the laptop and book layouts are taken from the developer's description, as are the two-column album pages. Split View isn't shown or described. No app or Xcode version is given, and no build was tested.
