Fourteen board games for two on one phone, where the hinge is part of the board
Does Tapete: 2 Player Board Games work on iPhone Duo?
Yes, and seen in the simulator: open, the hinge runs through the board; half-folded, each player sees only their own hand. Closing the phone passes the turn, the developer says.
- Simulator verifiedÓscar de la Torre, the developer, in emails to FoldHunt on October 12, 2026 and a week later, saying the game was built with Xcode 27.1 and tested in all three postures in the iPhone Duo simulator. The site's 28-second preview is captioned "recorded on the iPhone Duo simulator". The App Store description says the game is compatible with iPhone Duo. Version 1.3 (released October 18, 2026) adds 16 languages.
Adapted for the fold
- Open · Inner display
The hinge is the board
Open, the fold runs exactly where the board divides: the backgammon bar, the four-in-a-row frame, the river in xiangqi, the center line in go and air hockey, the peg board in cribbage. In chess and draughts each player gets a half, turned toward them.
- Book · Partly folded
Each sees only their own hand
Half-fold the phone like a book, and in brisca, tute, dominoes and liar's dice each player's cards or dice turn face up on their own half, out of the other player's sight.
- Closed · Outer display
Close it to pass the turn
In sea battle and secret code, you set up your side, close the phone and hand it over. When it opens, the other player sees only their own side.
About Tapete: 2 Player Board Games
Tapete is a travel case of fourteen board games for two people sharing one phone: sea battle, four in a row, air hockey, backgammon, chess with a clock, Spanish draughts, brisca, xiangqi, go, dominoes, tute, liar’s dice, secret code and cribbage. There’s no computer opponent and no online play, on purpose. Sea battle, four in a row and air hockey are free; one purchase unlocks the other eleven for good. It collects no data, and games save themselves.
Óscar de la Torre built it for the iPhone Duo and only kept games where the fold adds something. Open, the hinge is part of the board. Half-fold the phone like a book and each player sees only their own hand. In sea battle, you place your fleet, close the phone and hand it over. On any other iPhone or iPad, a curtain asks you to pass the phone instead.

Watched the site's 28-second preview, captioned as recorded on the iPhone Duo simulator: sea battle with a fleet placed on each side of the brass hinge and a "Close the case and pass it" screen, backgammon with the bar on the hinge, chess with a board on each half, xiangqi with the river on the hinge, go centered on it, and a card game in book posture with each hand on its own half.
Poses shown: Open, Book. These are observations of the evidence, not a test of every interaction.
App version: Not recorded in this evidence. Environment: iPhone Duo simulator, Xcode 27.1.
The recording shows the open display only: the phone is never seen closing, and the book-posture layout is shown flat on screen. No build was tested.
